Kate Downie’ s imagination is fired by so many things; her enthusiasm is unbridled and her ability to engage with diverse people, places, subject matter and media is extraordinary.  She draws continuously so that even when she is passing through, from one project to another, she is always gathering information and making subconscious notes which will fuel and sustain her in her studio.  It is here she can be most fulfilled because she is at heart a painter and it is to paint that she always returns.
